Orange 3G escape route blocked

French cellco <b>Orange</b> has been refused its request to transfer its Swedish 3G licence to a subsidiary by the country’s Post and Telecoms Authority (PTS). The decision was prompted by Orange’s business partners in <b>3G Infrastructure Services</b> (3GIS), <b>Hutchison Whampoa</b> and <b>Vodafone</b>, which claimed the French cellco was intending to sell its licence and escape obligations to co-finance the build of 3GIS’ 3G network.
