DOCOMO picks Gemalto to deploy NFC services in Japan

26 Aug 2014

Digital security firm Gemalto has been selected by NTT DOCOMO for its mobile near field communication (NFC) services. Under the deal, the vendor will supply Japan’s leading mobile operator – with over 63 million subscribers at end-June – with an end-to-end solution built around its Allynis Trusted Service Management (TSM) service and UpTeq NFC UICC embedding solution for both SIM and contactless applications. Gemalto says the NFC service launch will deliver a variety of contactless services encompassing mobile payments, loyalty programs, e-ticketing and access control.
