Slovakian watchdog considers 1800MHz and 3500MHz sales

18 Aug 2014

Slovakia’s telecoms regulator, the Office for Electronic Communications & Postal Services (RU), has opened a public consultation to discuss the sale of wireless spectrum in the 1800MHz and 3500MHz bands. 2×8.8MHz in the 1800MHz band has already been relinquished due to the expiry of licences previously held by TV and radio broadcasters, while two tranches of 14MHz paired spectrum in the 3500MHz band are due to be freed in August 2015. This latter band can be used for wireless broadband technologies such as WiMAX, and the spectrum in question is currently held by GTS Slovakia and Swan.
