MNP processing time reduced to 24 hours

21 Jul 2014

Ecuador’s telecoms watchdog Conatel adopted a resolution on 18 July to implement a reduction in the maximum mobile number portability (MNP) processing time to 24 hours (one working day), while also simplifying the procedure necessary for customers to change their operator. The National Telecommunications Secretariat (Senatel) has a period of 15 days to submit the proposed amendment, which would take effect in late November. MNP was launched in Ecuador in October 2009, and over a million numbers have been ported to date.
