Econet targets post-paid growth

15 Jul 2014

Zimbabwe’s largest cellular operator by subscribers Econet Wireless says it is targeting 21% growth in its lucrative post-paid user base during its current financial year to February 2015. The firm has around 70,000 contract customers at present, Business Live reports, and is implementing a project to convert medium- and high-rate pre-paid users to monthly contracts. It says post-paid average revenue per user (ARPU) currently stands at around USD35 per month, well above the pre-paid average. Econet had around 8.8 million subscribers and 63% of Zimbabwe’s mobile market at the end of March 2014, according to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database.
