LIME Turks & Caicos developing mobile TV

1 Jul 2014

LIME Turks & Caicos will launch a mobile TV service ‘in a matter of months’ in the islands, according to the Turks & Caicos Sun quoting LIME’s country manager James Pitt. In a press conference Mr Pitt did not give any specific details on the mobile TV launch schedule or on which devices it would be available, but said that it was essential for the service to be ‘affordable and seamless’. Pitt also noted that in rolling out mobile TV in Turks & Caicos, LIME would be carefully considering the experiences of its sister companies’ previous TV service launches in Jamaica and Barbados, which the report notes were ‘not as satisfactory as LIME would have liked.’ The executive mused: ‘Jamaica did a mobile TV product and Barbados also did a TV product. There were some lessons learned from it, and I think the focus had to have been making sure our broadband networks work well. We have to make sure that we don’t make promises to the market and fail the market.’
