Three UK unveils plans to introduce app allowing calls and texts via Wi-Fi

23 Jun 2014

UK mobile network operator Hutchison 3G UK, which offers its services under the ‘Three’ (‘3’) banner, has announced plans to launch an app which it says will allow its customers to make calls and send text messages using a Wi-Fi connection. The cellco’s ‘Three inTouch’ app will reportedly be made available to customers from early-August, and will be free of charge to all of its post-paid and pre-paid subscribers. The app itself will enable customers to utilise their existing monthly allowance or pre-paid credit for any minutes or texts used via Wi-Fi connectivity, with Three saying the service would be ‘seamless’ and use the customer’s existing phone number.
