Vodafone Netherlands switches on 4G TV

16 Jun 2014

Mobile operator Vodafone NL has launched a mobile TV service on its 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) network in the Netherlands, timed to coincide with the launch of the FIFA football World Cup in Brazil. The new service is open to all 4G subscribers, who will be able to follow all football matches being shown by Dutch TV broadcasters. In all, six channels are being offered – Nederland 1, 2 and 3, 24kitchen, CNN and National Geographic – priced at EUR7.95 (USD10.77) per month, free for the first month. The cellco notes that users’ current monthly data usage caps are not affected by the new TV service.
