PLDT expects improved Q2 net income

12 Jun 2014

The chairman of Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company (PLDT) says the telco is expecting improved net income in the second quarter of this year, driven largely by its data and broadband businesses. Manuel V Pangilinan stated that the firm is also on track to meet its full-year net income target of PHP39.5 billion (USD900 million), BusinessMirror reports. PLDT registered net income of PHP35.4 billion in 2013, down 2% year-on-year, on the back of service revenues which rose 3% to PHP164.1 billion. ‘The legacy fixed line data and broadband have been up. The toll traffic – international and domestic – is still dropping, but the slope is narrower,’ Pangilinan said.
