Omnitel, Lithuania’s largest mobile operator by subscribers, has announced it has completed the modernisation of its network in the central western part of the country between Kaunas, Klaipeda and Siauliai. The TeliaSonera-owned company also revealed that it has expanded the coverage and capacity of its 3G network, which is now available to 97.2% of the territory. Omnitel’s network upgrade project began in 2011 and is scheduled for completion this summer. Coverage of 4G LTE services is also being increased and currently stands at 46 towns and cities, representing 40% of the population.
