Go O! Nur Telecom launches 4G

12 May 2014

Kyrgyz mobile operator Nur Telecom, which operates under the brand O!, has announced the launch of 4G LTE services in the capital Bishkek. The company says that customers in the city are able to access maximum data transfer rates of up to 75Mbps, with 4G network coverage set to expand to other locations by the end of the year. A range of handsets and devices that support LTE in the 2600MHz frequency band are available from Nur Telecom, including the Apple iPhone 5s and 5c, Samsung Galaxy S4, Samsung Galaxy Note, Sony Xperia, HTC One, Nokia Lumia and LG Nexus.

TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database notes that since launching GSM-900/1800 services in March 2009, Nur Telecom has continued to increase its network footprint in remote and rural areas of the country, while it only introduced commercial 3G services in Bishkek and Chuy province last month. In July 2013 the cellco announced that its subscriber base had exceeded the one million milestone.
