Bite widens 3G network footprint

1 May 2014

Bite Lithuania, the country’s third largest mobile operator by subscribers, has expanded territorial coverage of its 3G network to 87% through the rollout of 130 new 3G base stations. The cellco plans to spend nearly LTL45million (USD17.6 million) on its network and services this year. Investment will be focused on increasing the quality and availability of data services, and coverage of its 3G network is set to rise to 90% of Lithuania’s territory by the end of 2014. A company press release adds that Bite is currently testing 4G technology, ahead of a commercial launch at a later date. Around LTL33 million was invested last year, with approximately 180 new base stations installed across the country.
