UPC tests 500Mbps broadband

UK-backed cableco UPC Poland has begun trialling broadband with download speeds of up to 500Mbps in Krakow, Pultusk, Warsaw and Zakopane, local news portal rpkom.pl writes. The operator’s network currently passes more than 2.5 million homes, providing potential peak download speeds of 250Mbps. According to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database, UPC claimed 915,900 broadband subscribers at the end of 2013, equating to a market share of approximately 16.3%.
