Digicel BVI increases HSPA+ footprint; LTE launch dependent on spectrum decision

4 Apr 2014

Digicel BVI has announced that it has expanded its ‘4G’-branded HSPA+ network to Road Town and Jost Van Dyke, ahead of its planned introduction of true 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) technology. Digicel BVI CEO Declan Cassidy commented: ‘Digicel is committed to providing effective and affordable LTE services to the people of the BVI’. The Digicel Group has successfully launched LTE networks in Antigua & Barbuda and the Cayman Islands to date he noted, but is still awaiting confirmation from the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (TRC) regarding the allocation of LTE-suitable spectrum in the BVI.
