Digicel acquires Turks cableco

3 Apr 2014

Cellco Digicel Turks & Caicos, together with its local partner Telemedia, announced on 1 April the acquisition of WIV Cable TV, a cableco which has been operating in the Turks & Caicos Islands for over 30 years. The deal includes WIV’s sister company TCT, which operates the TCExpress high speed cable internet service, local newspaper The Sun reports. The transaction, of undisclosed value, sees Digicel move into the Turks & Caicos cable market for the first time. Digicel added: ‘Through this purchase, we now have the most extensive fibre-optic network in the country.’
