Dialog inks USD115m investment plan with BoI

Sri Lanka’s largest cellular operator by subscribers Dialog Axiata has signed agreements with the island’s Board of Investment (BoI) to invest a further LKR15 billion (USD115 million) to expand its nationwide telecoms networks and digital satellite TV services. A subsidiary of Malaysia’s Axiata Group, Dialog and its fully-owned subsidiary, Dialog Television will invest the amount in ICT infrastructure projects including 4G and 3G high speed broadband (mobile and fixed-wireless), disaster recovery systems, and other technology modernisation and upgrades, the Sri Lanka Daily News reports. The latest investment pledge will take the total value of the Dialog group’s investment in Sri Lanka to a cumulative figure above LKR223 billion, or around USD1.7 billion.
