NTT DOCOMO to offer LTE roaming in six countries from 31 March

NTT DOCOMO, Japan’s leading cellco in terms of subscribers, has announced that it will launch a Long Term Evolution (LTE) roaming service for subscribers traveling to six countries from 31 March 2014. Countries included in the roaming agreement are listed as: the United States (the 48 contiguous states, alongside Alaska and Hawaii), Canada, Hong Kong, France, Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands.

The company has signed roaming agreements with AT&T Mobility (US, Puerto Rico and US Virgin Islands), Rogers (Canada), Hutchison (Hong Kong) and Bouygues Telecom (France). The service will be also available for users travelling to Malaysia (through an agreement with Maxis) from April 2014. Existing flat-rate data roaming plans will be applied to the service.
