Belgacom sells Scarlet Netherlands

Belgacom has offloaded the Netherlands operations of its quad-play provider Scarlet to the Dutch division’s local management. The buyout was led by Matthijs Kamp, Telecompaper reports. Although the full financial details of the transaction have not been disclosed, the Belgian group has booked a EUR15.0 million (USD20.8 million) one-time cost for the write-off of Scarlet’s Dutch activities in its Q4 2013 results. Belgacom is retaining Scarlet’s operations in its home market, where it offers fixed and mobile telephony, broadband internet and TV services. It acquired Scarlet for EUR175 million in 2008.
