2degrees, CallPlus among five bidders for ISP Orcon

11 Mar 2014

According to the National Business Review, New Zealand-based internet service provider (ISP) Orcon is up for sale – for the second time in less than twelve months – and has attracted bids from five companies, including mobile operator 2degrees, broadband operator CallPlus and major retail group The Warehouse. According to the business daily, ‘three or four’ of the parties are currently running due diligence on Orcon.

According to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database, in April 2013 state-owned broadcast solutions provider Kordia sold Auckland-based Orcon to a group of private investors, led by Vivid Networks director Warren Hurst for an undisclosed price, rumoured to be in the range of NZD30 million (USD25.4 million).
