Kyrgyztelecom to expand broadband availability

10 Mar 2014

Kyrgyz fixed line incumbent Kyrgyztelecom, in which the government owns a majority stake, has announced plans to expand its high speed internet services across the country by the end of the year. At present, the company’s fixed broadband services are restricted to the main cities, including Bishkek and Osh, but the telco aims to expand its network to other areas, including Chui and Issyk-Kul oblasts. Deployment has already begun in the towns and cities of Kara-Balta, Tokmok, Belovodskoye and Alamedin (all located in Chui province), to be followed shortly by Karakol city in Issyk-Kul province.
