Azerbaijan to restructure communications ministry

President Ilham Aliyev has signed a decree on the establishment of the Ministry of Communications and High Technology, which will take over the responsibilities of the current Ministry of Communication Information Technologies (MCIT). News agency Trend reports that the Cabinet of Ministers will now formulate a draft regulation and structure for the new ministry, while the Ministry of Justice has been instructed to ensure the alignment of legal acts of central executive authorities and normative acts. The current Minister of Communications and IT, Ali Abbasov, has been appointed as the head of the new ministry in accordance with a separate presidential decree.
