Telenor Norge contract Alca-Lu for broadband network technology upgrade

6 Mar 2014

French-US vendor Alcatel-Lucent has announced that Norwegian telecoms group Telenor has selected its Motive Network Analyzer as part of a recently announced plan to modernise its domestic access network. Telenor Norge is reportedly using Alca-Lu’s Motive Network Analyzer to continuously monitor broadband connections, provide efficient troubleshooting capabilities when issues arise, and optimise all of the connections offered to its 500,000 broadband subscribers. With Telenor Norge’s network modernisation plans also including the deployment of Alcatel-Lucent’s VDSL2 technology, it was noted that work was already underway in this regard, and the Norwegian telco is said to be aiming to have 500,000 DSL lines migrated to the new platform by next year.

Commenting on the development, Terje Foyn Johannessen, Telenor Norge’s director of telephony and internet noted: ‘Ensuring a better overall experience for residential customers is an important strategic initiative for Telenor and the Motive Network Analyzer tackles possible network issues at various levels — both reactively and proactively … Deployment of the Motive Network Analyzer and VDSL2 technology directly supports our goal to provide high speed services with high quality and stability to all our DSL subscribers.’
