Hong Kong 4G users reach 2.2m, says OFCA

4 Mar 2014

Hong Kong’s five mobile network operators – CSL New World Mobility, Hutchison Telephone Company (3), China Mobile Hong Kong, PCCW (HKT) and SmarTone – had 2.21 million 4G LTE customers between them at the end of December 2013, regulator OFCA has reported in its first statistical bulletin to separate 3G and 4G users. OFCA’s figures indicate that 4G users grew from roughly 800,000 at the end of 2012, while quarter-on-quarter the LTE total rose from 1.84 million at end-September 2013. Correspondingly, 3G user growth has stagnated.
