Ooredoo extends 3G coverage to 70% of Algerian population

Algerian mobile operator Ooredoo (Nedjma) has extended its 3G network to nine additional provinces (wilayas), corresponding to 3G coverage of 70% of the country’s population. According to the company’s website, Ooredoo now covers 19 wilayas with its 3G network, namely: Algiers, Constantine, Ouargla, Oran, Setif, Bejaia, Chlef, Djelfa, Ghardaia, Bouira, Blida, Tlemcen, Boumerdes, Tipaza, Biskra, El Oued Sidi, Bel Abbes, Medea and Ain Defla.

An authorisation to deploy next-generation services was granted by telecoms watchdog the Autorite de Regulation de la Poste et des Telecoms (ARPT) in late February 2014.
