The Dutch telco KPN has announced the launch of its 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) network in three new markets and has also initiated international roaming for 4G customers. Telecompaper reports that the high speed network is now available to users in the cities of Enschede, Hengelo and Almelo, with over 80% of the population now able to access the LTE service. The operator says it hopes to achieve nationwide coverage by 31 March 2014.
Meanwhile, KPN has also switched on international roaming for 4G users travelling to France and Norway thanks to agreements with Orange and Telenor. Roaming capability with operators in the US, the UK, Russia, Japan, Spain, Austria, Switzerland, Poland and Saudi Arabia will be added later this month, while Brazil and China are scheduled to be included in March, Germany, Hong Kong, Croatia and Slovenia will be added in April, and Denmark, Canada and Finland will be included in June.
