MIIT blocks MVNOs from investing in infrastructure

Chinese regulator the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) has unveiled new regulations restricting mobile virtual network operators (MVNOs) from investing in the construction of wireless infrastructure, Marbridge Daily writes. According to the new rules, MVNOs that have not obtained regulatory approcal to construct telecom facilities cannot invest in such infrastructure, including access, core and transport networks. The regulations also stipulate that all access equipment, such as mobile handsets, must be approved by the watchdog.
