Kabel Deutschland widens VoD footprint

7 Feb 2014

Kabel Deutschland has expanded the availability of its video on demand (VoD) offering, ‘Select Video’, to the Bavarian towns of Bamberg and the surrounding areas. Around 40,000 households in Bamberg, Altendorf, Baunach, Bischberg, Breitengussbach, Buttenheim, Ebern, Hallstadt, Hirschaid, Litzendorf, Memmelsdorf, Oberhaid, Stegaurach, Strullendorf, Viereth-Trunstadt and Zapfendorf are able to access Select Video’s content library of around 2,700 films and 4,000 television programmes. The service, which was first launched in March 2011, is currently available to over three million households across Germany, and the cableco plans to expand access of the service to around 50% of all cable homes from the spring. Kabel Deutschland, which last year was bought by Vodafone Group, operates cable networks in 13 federal states in Germany and supplies approximately 8.4 million connected households.
