Algerie Telecom choses Telnet for outdoor Wi-Fi network

Algerian network operator Algerie Telecom has signed an agreement with Tunisia-based Telnet Holding, parent company of DataBox of Algeria, for the supply of a national outdoor Wi-Fi network, Agence Ecofin reports. The four-year contract will commence this year. The deployment of an outdoor Wi-Fi network is part of a roadmap prepared by the incumbent in order to improve its services; the plan includes the deployment of fibre-optic and WiMAX technology, as well as the launch of 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) services by the end of 2014.
