Vodafone Ghana invests USD22.9m in network expansion

24 Jan 2014

Ghanaian wireless operator Vodafone Ghana is reportedly undertaking a ‘massive extension operation’ to upgrade its network. Agence Ecofin writes that the cellco has committed GHS55 million (USD22.9 million) to fund the project, which will see over 403 new sites deployed ‘using the latest technology’ by the end of March 2014. The proposed expansion of Vodafone’s network is aiming to increase its coverage, while also improving quality of service (QoS). Vodafone’s CTO Patricia Obo-Nai said: ‘Over the past years, we have invested more than USD700 million in the expansion of our sites, [which have] increased from 300 in 2009 to 2000 across the country.’
