Personal launches Wi-Fi hotspot service

22 Jan 2014

Argentine mobile operator Telecom Personal has announced the launch of a Wi-Fi hotspot service which gives its customers free internet access at a number of airports, shopping malls and stadiums across the country. The cellco says the service will enhance the mobile internet browsing experience for its subscribers and improve communication in high data traffic. By the end of the year, the Wi-Fi network will increase to around 1,000 hotspots in public areas around the country. According to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database, Personal is Argentina’s third largest mobile operator by subscribers, with around 19.86 million customers at the end of September 2013 (including 8.1 million 3G users), giving it a market share of 31.6%.
