US telecoms group Liberty Global plans to create a new Latin America unit incorporating its Chilean and Puerto Rican operations, Diario Financiero writes, citing the company’s chairman John Malone. Liberty will launch a bond issue for USD1.4 billion through its Chilean arm, VTR, to create a financial structure for the new division and to fund potential acquisitions in the region.
