FAS clears MegaFon to buy 100% of SMARTS-Volgograd

20 Jan 2014

Russia’s Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) has reportedly approved the takeover of SMARTS-Volgograd by mobile giant MegaFon. As previously reported by TeleGeography’s CommsUpdate, in July 2013 Tattelecom acquired SMARTS-Kazan from Volga-based SMARTS Group, and both MegaFon and Tattelecom are believed to be interested in cherry-picking other SMARTS assets in the future.
