Slim gobbles up 3.14% stake in Telekom Austria

Telekom Austria Group has been informed by Vienna-based international law firm Schonherr Rechtsanwalte that Carso Telecom (formerly known as AMOV Europa), which is indirectly controlled by Carlos Slim-backed America Movil (AM), has concluded a conditional purchase agreement with Inmobiliaria Carso and Control Empresarial de Capitales to acquire a total of 13.9 million Telekom shares, corresponding to a 3.14% stake. The deals have taken AM’s total direct/indirect shareholding in Telekom up to 23.674%.
