Movistar ordered to stop promoting 3G in five locations due to poor service

16 Jan 2014

Ecuador’s Superintendency of Telecommunications (Supertel) has ordered Telefonica subsidiary Movistar to cease marketing five localities as having 3G coverage, as the service quality in those areas failed to meet criteria as measured by the regulator, Telesemana reports. Movistar must remove the following areas from its list of 3G coverage zones: Ramon Campana (in the province of Cotopaxi), Colon Eloy de Maria (Esmeraldas province), Checa (Pichincha), Dureno and Lumbaqui (Sucumbios).
