Telefonica Global Solutions launches ‘Universal Wi-Fi’ service

15 Jan 2014

Telefonica Global Solutions has unveiled its ‘Universal Wi-Fi’ service, which is aimed at the multinational and enterprise market segment and is said to represent ‘an important service extension to [the operator’s] existing comprehensive Managed Mobility Portfolio’. According to the Spanish company, the new offering will deliver significant positive benefits to the customer segment it has been designed for, while also removing the complex connectivity processes to Wi-Fi hotspots globally that currently exist. Commenting on the development, Jose L. Gamo, CEO of Telefonica Global Solutions’ Multinationals Business Unit, said: ‘The launch of Universal Wi-Fi is designed to support our multinational and corporate customers increasing data usage with an excellent user experience and fixed data costs.’

Telefonica’s total managed Wi-Fi network, with partnerships including iPass, DTA and Swisscom, currently covers more than 1.3 million hotspots across 110 countries.
