Afghan mobile coverage reaches 90% following 2013 deployments

According to the Pajhwok Afghan News (PAN) agency, as many as 240 new telecoms antennas were installed and activated in a total of 173 districts during 2013, bringing coverage to around 480,000 unserved Afghan citizens who had no access to telecoms services in 2012. As such, more than 90% of the population now have access to mobile services, with subscriber numbers passing the 20 million mark last year.
