YouPhone signs MVNO deal with Pelephone

2 Jan 2014

Israeli mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) YouPhone, which is a subsidiary of Alon Holdings Blue Square, has reportedly inked a deal which will see it move from operating over Partner Communications’ network to the infrastructure owned by Pelephone. Under the terms of a deal with Bezeq wireless unit Pelephone, YouPhone expects a technological platform to be established within a few month and does not anticipate any impact to customers as it moves providers. The deal between YouPhone and Pelephone is understood to be worth between ISL30 million and ILS40 million (USD8.6 million-USD11.5 million).

Commenting on the development, Pelephone CEO Gil Sharon was cited as saying: ‘The deal with YouPhone is part of our strategy of hosting MVNOs on our network, as we defined already more than two years ago. We believe that there is mutual benefit to a situation in which we host and compete at once.’ Meanwhile, YouPhone CEO Ariel Schreiber said of his company’s decision to switch provider: ‘The hosting agreement with Pelephone is yet another milestone as YouPhone continues to establish itself as a significant player, and leader in the mobile market. We chose Pelephone’s network in order to guarantee that we will have the best and most advanced network in the future as well.’
