Telkom SA offloads iWay Africa to Gondwana International

23 Dec 2013

Telkom South Africa has announced that it has sold its pan-African broadband businesses, iWay Africa and Africa Online Mauritius, to Gondwana International Networks. The deal was concluded on 20 December 2013, with Telkom CEO Sipho Maseko commenting: ‘This transaction is one of many initiatives that will contribute to our own turnaround allowing us to focus on our core South African fixed line and mobile operations. We are also pursuing several other initiatives in a coordinated manner to restore Telkom’s financial health’.

According to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database, iWay Africa was formed through the amalgamation of Africa Online and AFSAT in May 2011.
