Cable & Wireless Communications (CWC) said its Panamanian subsidiary has upgraded its mobile data network in Panama City and Colon as the first part of a USD47.5 million programme, under which it aims to meet growing customer demand for data-based services, has been completed. Cable & Wireless Panama (C&WP) is understood to have increased network capacity in those areas where there is high demand for mobile data, with the improvements said to have enabled customers to upload and download mobile data up to 20% faster. Having completed the upgrade in Panama City and Colon, CWC has said that engineers are now rolling out the programme to the rest of the country, though it stopped short of giving any details regarding the next areas where the improvements are expected to be made.
