Revol to shut down in Jan-14; subscribers offered Boost lifeline

19 Dec 2013

Regional CDMA operator Revol Wireless has announced that it will shut down on 16 January 2014, following several weeks’ of speculation over its future. However, the carrier has said that Sprint-owned pre-paid affiliate Boost Mobile will be offering all existing Revol customers a free phone and one free month of service if they opt to switch to Boost by 24 December. Last month Sprint purchased twelve PCS spectrum licences from Revol in the Ohio area, and it has since been revealed that ‘select’ Revol stores will become Boost Mobile in the near future. It has yet to be confirmed whether Sprint has made a play for the remainder of the regional firm’s assets.
