US pay-TV operator DISH Network is to launch trials of Time Division Long Term Evolution (TD-LTE) technology in mid-2014 under a partnership with Sprint. The firms will deploy a 4G fixed wireless broadband network in the city of Corpus Christi, Texas by the middle of next year, using Sprint’s 2.5GHz spectrum. Michael Schwartz, Sprint’s senior vice president of corporate and business development, commented: ‘This trial with DISH has great potential as it combines the key capabilities and assets of both companies to provide another option to customers with limited broadband access.’
