TELE Greenland, the country’s incumbent mobile operator, has announced a 90% decrease in roaming charges for its subscribers traveling to Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland and the Baltic States (Latvia, Estonia and Lithuania) from 15 December 2013. According to a press release, the price of 1MB of data will drop to DKK3.35 (USD0.62) from the previous charge of DKK43.75, calls will be priced at DKK1.79 per minute (down from DKK8.00), while the cost of sending a SMS will be reduced to DKK0.60, down from DKK2.50. TELE Greenland’s director Anders Barslund revealed: ‘In Denmark, we have made new roaming agreements with all operators. In Sweden, we have agreements with Telia and Telenor, while in Norway [we have agreed deals] with Telenor and Netcom. In Finland we have an agreement with Telia Sonera, in Estonia EMT, in Latvia LMT and in Lithuania Omnitel. Subscribers must ensure that they use one of these operators to enjoy the new, low unit prices.’
