ANRCETI issues a new measure to StarNet

12 Dec 2013

Moldovan watchdog, the National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technology (ANRCETI) has issued a warning to StarNet, the country’s second largest internet service provider (ISP) in terms of subscribers, for failing to provide it with certain information, thus breaching the country’s Electronic Communications Act. According to a press release, StarNet’s non-compliance to provide the requested data has prevented ANRCETI from performing its regulatory functions; the company now has a new deadline of 13 December 2013 to submit the information to the watchdog.

Further, ANRCETI has pointed out that the injunction is the second one issued to StarNet in three months. The measures are based on an analysis performed by the watchdog in early September 2013, during which it was determined that StarNet provides telephony services using geographical numbers outside of the zone to which they have been assigned, in breach of Section 7 of the Procedures for Management of Telephone Numbering Resources (No.58/2010).
