MTEL negotiating acquisition of BBM

Serbian-backed wireless and WiMAX operator MTEL is reportedly involved in talks with Montenegrin businessman Veselin Barovic regarding the possible acquisition of CATV provider Broadband Montenegro (BBM), Telecompaper writes, citing local news portal Dan Online. According to a source close to the deal, Barovic originally sought EUR7 million (USD9.63 million) for the provider but has since dropped the asking price to EUR4 million. MTEL has reportedly investigated potential takeovers of six cable operators over the last six months, as it looks to expand its offerings to cover triple- and quad-play services, in line with fixed line incumbent and market leader Crnogorski Telekom (T-Com).
