Orange Romania claims 100,000 LTE subscribers

5 Dec 2013

One year after the commercial launch of its Long Term Evolution (LTE) network, Orange Romania has claimed that around 100,000 subscribers are using 4G-compatible smartphones, tablets and modems. The figure was disclosed to business daily Ziarul Financiar by Orange Romania chief commercial officer (CCO) Julien Ducarroz.

According to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database, Orange inaugurated commercial LTE services in a handful of locations in December 2012, hot on the heels of chief rival Vodafone. At launch the cellco claimed coverage of central and northern areas of the capital Bucharest, as well as popular ski resorts such as Prahova Valley, Bran-Moieciu and Poiana Brasov.
