Bosnian PM claims no plans to privatise BH Telecom

5 Dec 2013

Nermin Niksic, the prime minister of Bosnia and Herzegovina, has said that state-owned multi-service operator BH Telecom will not be sold, Telecompaper reports, citing local news source Fokus. Mr Niksic is understood to have claimed that suggestions that the telco could be privatised serve only to draw the public’s attention away from other issues, with the head of state noting that the government does, however, intend to move forward with plans to sell off its stakes in those firms in which it holds a minority share. Further, the PM noted that, as long as BH Telecom continues to perform at the same financial level as now, there would be no reason to privatise the telco.
