The Luxembourg mobile sector is bracing itself for the arrival of a new mobile operator, after Blue Communications, which will trade as Join Experience, was issued a mobile number allocation by the Institut Luxembourgeois de Regulation (ILR).
According to the start-up’s website, Join Experience is a 50:50 joint venture between Join Wireless and Post Luxembourg (formerly P&T Luxembourg/LuxGSM). Join Wireless was founded in June 2013 by three Luxembourgish entrepreneurs: Pascal Koster, the former director of Tango and founder of Vox Mobile [now Orange Luxembourg]; Claude Luscher, the former CEO of Tecsys and co-founder of Exigo; and Frank Fischer, a former partner at Deloitte.
Further, the company claims that it has been awarded a 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) licence by the watchdog, allowing it to compete with Orange and Tango in the mobile broadband market. Another key area of focus for the new carrier is said to be the machine-to-machine (M2M) sector.
