Azerbaijan’s alternative fixed line operator AzEuroTel, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies (MCIT), has announced that it is close to completing a project to upgrade four of its local exchanges in the country. Telecompaper, citing the online site Trend, says that the telco is also carrying out works to upgrade its network infrastructure to next generation network (NGN) technology, as it looks to move into offering IP telephony, broadband internet and IPTV services, as well as expanding its traditional user base.
