Venezuelan mobile operator Movistar has revealed that it plans to invest more than VEF176 million (USD27.8 million) over the next two months to install 65 new cell sites. The Telefonica subsidiary’s deployment will include 19 new base stations in the Gran Caracas region, eleven in the western region, seven in the central region, four in Guiana and three in the Andes region, Telesemana reports. According to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database, Movistar is the second largest operator by subscribers in the Venezuelan cellular market, with 10.58 million customers and a 32.7% share of the overall sector as of 30 June 2013.
