Verizon Wireless is reportedly in the process of buying 20MHz of advanced wireless services (AWS) spectrum in 53 counties covering 14 Cellular Market Areas (CMAs) from Barat Wireless, a subsidiary of US Cellular, Fierce Wireless reports. Citing a Federal Communications Commission (FCC) filing, the online journal notes that the frequencies in question cover parts of Illinois and Missouri near the St Louis area. The financial details of the deal have not been disclosed.
